Saint Canice Annual Boys' Football Tournament
Today we held our Annual boys’ football Tournament at Owenbeg. We had ten schools competing in the A and B competition. After the group games and a free taking competition to decide one of the semi finalists we were treated to four great semi finals in both competitions. We were eventually left with Faughanvale and Termoncanice in the B final. In this final we were treated to a great game between two very evenly matched sides. It took extra time to produce a winner in this game, with Termoncanice eventually edging out Faughanvale.
The A final saw Termoncanice competing once again, this time against one of Tyrone’s representatives, Ardboe. This was a fantastic game played at a great pace and with a great deal of skill on display from both sides. At the final whistle, it was once again Termoncanice who had edged in front to claim the A title.
Many thanks to all the teams who participated in both competitions and to Mr McGuigan from The Derry senior football team, who presented the medals.
Also thanks to Emmett Stewart for organising the referees and to the Saint Patrick’s College Dungiven pupils and Saint Canice Gac youth players who officiated on the day. You did a fantastic job.
Also many thanks to Bernie, Colm and Brendan at Owenbeg, who helped set up the canteen and ensured we were given access to the facilities.
