Primary Seven Young Enterprise

1st Jun 2025

Our primary seven pupils have been busy in Term two and three creating products for their Young Enterprise Business Programme. They had to decide on what type of product to create, source funding, get materials and produce a Business plan. They decided to make clay bead bracelets, loom band bracelets, key rings, bookmarks and signs for the home and garden. They were able to source the wood for free and then had it sprayed. They used stencils to create their writing and were then invited to display their products in Foyleside at a Young Enterprise Business event, where they competed against other schools. We were very successful on the day. Sofia won an individual award and the class won Best Customer service school and Best overall school.

We would like to thank everyone who assisted us in our Business venture. We would especially like to thank Shauna Friel, who supplied us with wood, Martin Kealey who helped prepare the wood for painting, Benny O’Kane, a parent and Kitchen manufacturer, who also supplied us with wood and prepared it for painting. We are also very grateful to Ryan McLaughlin of Spray-co, who sprayed our signs free of charge. We are very lucky to have so many people associated with our school and in our community who are very supportive of our school. Also we would like to thank Allison and Karen, our classroom assistants who devoted a lot of time and effort to help make our Business such a success. Not to forget our pupils themselves, who came up with some great ideas and who worked extremely hard on this project. Well done to everyone.

We will be selling our products on Sports’ day and at local shops on dates to be confirmed.
