Today we had special visit from local firefighters Marie and Emmett from Dungiven Fire Station. The children really enjoyed learning about the different equipment and tools used by the firefighters. They then got a chance to sit inside the fire engine and see the many pieces of equipment used. We had a look at the special uniform that firefighter Emmett wears to keep him safe. We got to hear the fire engine siren and talk about what it means when they see the blue flashing lights. To finish the visit the children got a chance to be a firefighter and use the water hose! It was very exciting. The children even got homework to go home and ask their parents to check that their smoke alarms are all working!
We are very grateful to Marie and Emmett for taking the time out of their busy schedule to visit us and talk to the children about their job. A special word of thanks to Emmett for organising this visit.
