Children’s Mental Health Week 2026
This week we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme for 2026, “This is My Place,” focused on helping our children feel that they truly belong whether that be at home, at school, with their special friends at nursery, or within their wider community.
Throughout the week, we explored what belonging means to us. We used creative play to encourage kindness by making special pictures for a friend, celebrating the importance of friendship and connection.
We also explored our feelings through a Tuff Tray emotions activity. The children helped to create a “Worry Monster” using different materials and talked about a range of emotions including happy, sad, worried and angry. This hands-on activity gave the children opportunities to name their feelings, share their thoughts, and discuss ways we can manage big emotions. It encouraged open conversations and helped the children understand that all feelings are important and okay.
To help children feel proud of their place, we worked together to keep our nursery and school tidy. The children took part in litter picks, helping to keep our environment clean and safe showing care and responsibility for the space we share.
During the month of February, we have also been strengthening our connection with the local community by learning about the different jobs people do to help us every day. This has helped the children understand that they are part of something bigger and that everyone plays an important role.
We are so proud of how our children have embraced this theme and shown kindness, responsibility and a wonderful sense of belonging.
