A busy start to 2023 at Nursery!

7th Feb 2023

The nursery boys and girls have been very busy during the month of January. We learned all about Polar Bears and Penguins. We created snowmen indoors with playdough and clay and outdoors with the real thing!

Doreen from Jo Jingles helped us to learn how to keep warm in the Winter months through music, song and dance. We had the opportunity to play with lots of different musical instruments.

Miss Gray brought in her harp and played beautiful music. The children asked lots of questions about how it was made and how she makes the sounds. They described it as a lovely 'rainbow sound'.

We have had fantastic gymnastics lessons with Mr McGuigan. He has been teaching us how to move in different ways and create special gymnastic shapes.

The children fed the birds every day in January, they made bird feeders for the little robins and smaller birds in their own gardens. We had our very own school bird watch to see how many different types of birds we could see and count in our playing fields.

Best of all there was lots of excitement and fun in the snow in our outdoor play area. We talked about the snow and how it felt, we had snowball fights, built Canice the Snowman and watched how it all melted away again! Lots of great explorative play and learning.
