Energy Detectives

19th May 2017

This week the year 6 and 7 pupils took part in the Energy Detectives challenge.

Last week a girl came into our school. She gave energy monitors to all the P.6s and P.7s. The energy monitors came with a free pen with a torch, booklet and a free bag. We had to take the monitor home. We had to plug the plug into a socket and connect it with the monitor. After that we had to connect the black monitor in to the meter box. When we finished with that it all started to work. If you turned on something the reading went up and if you turned something off the reading went down. When it started to work we had to change the time on it and you also had to put in your electric bill. It also told you the temperature in degrees. Everybody was surprised about how much energy we used in a day never mind a week. Every night for homework we had to do things in the booklet like writing how many electrical things were in our house. We thought that it was a really good activity. We really enjoyed doing this project.
