Saint Canice Annual Football Tournament
We held our annual football tournament on Friday 1st June with a total of 23 teams competing, representing 12 different schools.
We were delighted to welcome our special guest, Ulster Gaa President Mr Michael Hasson.
After an entertaining day of football and a visit from the ice cream van, the Girls’ tournament was won by Saint Colmcille’s Claudy, who defeated Saint Canice Dungiven in the final.
In the Boys’ B section a very strong Saint Mary’s Gortnaghey beat first time visitors Saint John’s Derry.
The Boys’ A final saw a highly exciting and skilful game with Saint Brigid’s Mayogall getting the better of Faughanvale.
We would like to thank Saint Canice Gac for once again sponsoring the medals and trophies for our tournament and Sean Owens for his work this year in promoting and developing our links with Saint Canice Gac.
Saint Canice primary would like to thank Mr Michael Hasson and all of the teams for attending. We would also like to thank Ashling McCaul for organising the referees on the day and all of the referees, who as usual did an excellent job.
The school would also like to thank Saint Canice Parents’ Association who continue to support the school throughout the year and once again provided food on the day, ensuring everyone was well fed.
Also, we would like to acknowledge the hard work of the coaches who came into the school this year and put in a huge amount of work with our pupils, Richard Ferris and Aidy McLaughlin. We are very appreciative of the work they have done since September.
