Flahavan's Cross Country championship
On Thursday 2nd February our Cross Country team participated in the second round of the Flahavan’s Cross Country championship. We had twenty seven runners participating in three races. All of our runners performed exceptionally well.
In the boys’ fun run, we had Ronan and his brother James taking second and third places. In the girls’ fun run, Bronagh, Sophie and Nadine took first, second and third places.
In the girls’ team event all six girls ran brilliantly, with five of them finishing in the top ten, with our sixth runner finishing thirteenth in a field of over eighty runners. This performance meant we won the girls’ competition for the second year in a row and have now qualified for the Northern Ireland finals.
Not to be outdone by the girls, our boys also ran a superb race to end up with four runners in the top eleven. Our other two runners put in great performances to finish in the top twenty five, out of eighty seven runners. This performance was good enough to see the boys win their team event and also qualify for the Northern Ireland finals at the beginning of March.
Well done to all runners, our school is very proud of your effort and achievement.
